The Infinite Potential of Ice Cream
Through ice cream, we want to contribute to our town. The founder and representative, Yoshiyama, conceived the brand after returning to his hometown of Yamato Town.
One day, when he returned to his hometown of Yamato Town, he was astonished to see the town's public relations magazine. It showed the population trends of Yamato Town 20 and 30 years in the future. For us, who had unconsciously and naturally believed that our beloved Yamato Town would always be there and would continue to be so, it was a shocking revelation.
We had never given a single thought to the situation in Yamato Town 30 years from now, but at that moment, a vague sense of crisis and urgency overwhelmed us. We wondered if there was anything we could do, anything we could do leveraging our past experience. While searching for a way to maximize and deliver the charm of Yamato Town nationwide, we focused on ice cream, which can make any ingredient delicious.
Around that time, my brother, a co-founder who was working at a cafe in Tokyo, also shared his experience of being inspired by the form of ice cream shops abroad (a scene where people interact and the town becomes lively through ice cream shops), which Japan lacked. We spent the night talking about the potential of our beloved ice cream.
I want to contribute to people through ice cream.
Mr. Yoshiyama was originally a welfare worker as an occupational therapist, so I felt he could utilize his past experiences. During his time as an occupational therapist, he had many experiences related to ice cream.
One terminally ill cancer patient, with only a short time left to live, could only eat ice cream. He told me every time we met, "I can eat ice cream; please buy me some delicious ice cream." When I scooped a spoonful into his mouth, he said, "Mmm, delicious," as if confirming his existence.
Another person with a developmental disability usually helps with cleaning inside the facility. His goal is to work in customer service, as he loves talking to people. One day, at a facility event, we made homemade ice cream together and served it to everyone. When he handed the ice cream he made himself to a customer, they replied, "Thank you! It looks delicious!" with a smile and words of gratitude. His dream became to be an "ice cream seller." I thought it would be wonderful if heartfelt, warm, kind, safe, and secure ice cream could reach many people! I make ice cream while thinking about such things.
